MUMBAI: Terror mastermind Osama bin Laden's death has led to an unlikely effect on Bollywood. There is a move afoot to re-release the Osama-spoof, Tere Bin Laden, in cinema halls and on satellite channels.

The film's producer, Pooja Shetty Deora, told TOI, "We are considering re-releasing the movie, but we have still not been able to contact our distributors in this regard. We will have to wait for a couple of days to gauge whether the public really wants to see the film in theatres all over again."

The interest was also apparent on social networking sites; the film's title was often used across various websites throughout Monday. One Tweet said, "Bin Tere Laden America is lost they'll have to create a new victim and find the next nation to ruin (sic)." Writer Pritish Nandy tweeted, "Interested to see who is presented as the captured young wife of Osama. Anyone in Hollywood will give her right arm for the role."

Another one said: "What will Al Qaeda do after Laden is dead watch Tere Bin Laden!.(sic)."

Yet another said: "Wonder if Osama Bin Laden watched Tere Bin Laden? After all, the movie was about him, wonder what he thought of it."

Twitter also had the following message: "Today's quote from Pakistan is Tere Bin Laden (sic)."

One of the Twitter theories was that CIA got the idea to finally kill Laden from the film. A Tweet said: "I am sure someone from CIA watched 'Tere Bin Laden' and found it to be a very good idea."

The Osama-spoofing movie also generated two potential movie titles: "Mar Gaye Re Osama" and "Bin Tere Laden".

The winner tweet of the day as far as Bollywood was concerned was perhaps: "How many times will Osama die? Is it the last time?
While he had asked for a copy of Aamir Khan's contract, Salman seemed disinterested when YRF tried to bargain the deal showing him SRK's remuneration.

It was recently reported that Salman Khan had asked for a copy of Aamir Khan's contract, for the film he signed with YRF. Salman, who usually doesn't work outside his friend circle or family, was a bit skeptical about signing a film produced by Aditya Chopra and so wanted to ensure that he gets the best deal.

On the other hand, Yash Raj officials tried to use Shah Rukh Khan's contract to bargain the deal with Salman Khan. Their line of argument was that they are paying Salman Khan the kind of money which they don't even pay to their favourite actor Shah Rukh Khan. However Salman Khan was not amused with the comparison.

Most actors (Shah Rukh Khan inclusive) are known to willingly accept lower paychecks to get a chance to work with the prestigious Yash Raj banner. However Salman Khan, who doesn't really share a friendly rapport with the Chopras and would be starring in a Yash Raj film for the first time, isn't amongst those who would make any compromise for the banner.

The Yash Raj film for which Salman Khan is being considered will be directed by Kabir Khan and Katrina Kaif will be paired opposite him.

As per trade circles, Yash Raj made an exception and signed Aamir Khan for Dhoom 3 at sky-high price. Will Salman Khan be lucky enough to get the same treatment like Aamir Khan? With the super-success of Dabangg , Salman has all the more reason to not budge from his high monetary demands. But then again Yash Chopra had once made statement that he didn't like Dabangg !
For a magazine cover, Katrina goes for an image makeover wearing corset bustier and shorts that transforms her into a sultry siren.

We have seen her in the cute Barbie doll and hot-n-seductive item-girl Sheila as well. But Katrina Kaif shows a different side of her as she shoots for a magazine cover exuding her raw sex-appeal.

Katrina's baby doll innocence is effortlessly transformed to resemble the black siren, achieved by a stunning Bordelle bodice wrap corset bustier teamed with shorts and a chiffon skirt from Givenchy to complete an understated sexy look. A look unseen on her ever before, Katrina sizzles with oomph, peppered with a hint of her signature touch of glam. This is the magazine Vogue India's first makeover issue.

Anaita Shroff Adajania, Fashion Director, Vogue India reflects, "Katrina best exemplifies the makeover theme. The idea for the shoot was to bring out the rawness to her sensuality. It's a side of her that has been unseen. At the shoot, she willingly experimented and transformed into a sultry siren. We love this side of her and we love her reinvention!"

Marc Hom, a Danish based photographer, famous for his shoots for various campaigns like Gucci and Max Mara, flew down for the photo shoot with Katrina for Vogue India. "It was a fascinating experience. Katrina was very open-minded and I tried to make her look different", adds Hom.
Shah Rukh Khan kicked off his career with television serials like Fauji and Circus two decades ago. But he aimed to reach higher-Bollywood.

Not only did he reach the silver screen, but struck gold there. Yet, the actor bowed down in respect for the television industry, which gave him his first opportunity.

He returned to TV with reality shows like Kaun Banega Crorepati, Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain? and Zor Ka Jhatka, leaving behind fans asking for more. Ever since, TV has become a second home for the actor.

With his on and off relationship with TV, we hear SRK is returning once again, this time in a primetime soap titled Sasural Simar Ka.

The actor who has always valued his early struggling days on TV will make a come back through a cameo appearance on the show.

The show also marks the return of India's beloved child bride, Avika Gor aka Anandi of Balika Vadhu.

It wasn't a cake walk for the producers of the show to get King Khan to do the cameo. Says a source, "The serial is a highly anticipated fiction show, especially because it marks the return of Avika Gor.

It was not easy to convince SRK considering his packed schedule. He heard the entire track of the show and the story appealed to him because the story of the protagonist resembles the actor's own life. Thus, he agreed and even started shooting for the show last night."

But is he playing himself in the serial? We guess! The source added, "SRK would be seen in a couple of episodes but the cameo is kept under wraps. The channel does not want to disclose what he will be playing in the show." The channel remained unavailable for comment.
Death of Osama bin Laden overshadowed recent television events including royal wedding of Price William and Kate Middleton in London with viewership soaring to all-time high after 9/11 attack, Laden's handiwork. Bin Laden was killed by US troops in a midnight attack at a safe house in Pakistan's Abbottabad district on Sunday night, an event that caught the immediate attention of television viewers world over.
In India, about 42.6 million people watched the news related to killing of Osama on TV, meaning higher viewer-ship than royal wedding and IPL-4.

Around 42.1 million people had turned on their idiot boxes to watch the royal wedding last Friday whereas the average IPL viewer-ship has ranged between 25 and 30 million last weekend.

"English, Hindi and international news channels covered this big news (Bin Ladens' killing) all through Monday making it the biggest television event in recent past," said Jiniti Shah, vice-president of television audience rating company, aMAP (Audience Measurement and Analytics).

In this too, Hindi news channels, grabbed more eyeballs than English ones. Market share of Hindi news channels increased by 35 % soon after news of Osama's death was aired as compared to 21 % gain for the English news channels. Among English channels, the international news channels had reasonably higher audience.

Besides there was a variety of things offered to the audience on Monday on the incident, which included news report about Osama's death, to documentaries about his life and his terror profile.

Osama's death turned out to be the biggest television draw in US after the 9/11 attacks in 2001 with over 55 million watching the news on television at 11 pm on Sunday, television rating company Neilson reported.

Around 70 million people had watched 9/11 attacks on television channels in the US.
Director Vikram Bhatt's daughter Krishna will be making her debut in Haunted 3D, directed by her father.

For 16 year old Krishna, acting was never an obvious choice. When Vikram was shooting for his 3D movie Haunted in Ooty, he realized that he needed a girl to play piano and his daughter Krishna, who was on the sets assisting him, came in as the perfect fit.

Says Vikram, "There's a scene in the movie where the lead actress is attending a piano class. Hence I needed someone who could play piano and that's when Krishna came to my mind."

The teenager is obviously very excited to be directed by her father in her debut film!
Of late, actor Salman Khan has been on a record breaking spree of sorts. His movies Dabangg and Wanted have broken quite a few box office records in the last couple of years. However, this time around, Sallu has broken a rather amusing record: one for most kisses received on the hand in a minute.

To break this record, Salman was joined by 25 young girls who were thrilled to have the opportunity to kiss the superstar. The girls proceeded to kiss Salman with record breaking speed and they managed to kiss him 108 times in a minute, breaking the Guinness World Record.

The feat took place on the sets of the Record Tod finale of the show, Guinness World Record - Ab India Todega, on Colors. But before the record breaking act, Mr Kris, the official adjudicator from Guinness World Record, was given a Dabangg-style dance tutorial by Salman himself. Salman also grooved on superhit numbers such as Bachna Ae Haseeno from the film of the same name and ‘Do you want a partner’ from his hit film, Partner. The episode is yet to go on air.Salman breaks world record
Salman Khan is notorious for calling a spade a spade. Then again, he's a superstar who couldn't care less. Now when one-film-old actress Sonakshi Sinha spouts what suspiciously sounds like something her mentor Sallu would say, you know her 'inspiration'.

When asked about her link-up with Salman on Twitter, she sneers, "Writing crap about others puts food on their plates. What's there. They're answerable only to 1 person. N that's karma ;)"

The Dabangg Khan can get away with unkind words. How long before your words (and karma) comes back to bite you, Sona?
Actor Kainaz Motivala, 21, who plays the protagonist inRagini MMS, Ekta Kapoor's version of Paranormal Activity, says that the explicit lovemaking scenes with co-star Raj Kumar were difficult for her to shoot. “I was uncomfortable doing the intimate scenes. Till then Raj and I didn’t know each other well. But he had done these scenes inLove, Sex Aur Dhokha so he made me somewhat comfortable. There were many people from the crew in the room, that made it very difficult. I told the director (Pawan Kriplani) and we tried to have few people in the room. Honestly, it was also the constant reminder of my parents watching the scenes that kept making me more and more uncomfortable," she laughs.

The film was shot in a lone bungalow on the outskirts of Mumbai, and though the actors had attended a month-long workshop to prepare, Kainaz says she was spooked out during and after the shoot. “We had watched lot of international horror films during our workshop to get into the character. But when I started shooting, it was quite scary. There was a certain room in the bungalow that gave out really strange vibes. Weeks after the shooting got over, I used to get up at four in the morning because I felt so scared. I thought of taking therapy,” she says. About the censor board’s decision to tone down the promos, she says, “People can anyway watch the uncensored video online. I don’t know why they didn’t agree with the promo but it’s ok, maybe they needed to tone it down for TV.”

And how did she land the lead role? “I auditioned twice for the role. Usually during auditions they give us a script and a scene, but I was given a character sketch and two different situations. Then I was called for another audition.”

Ekta Kapoor is known to be a tough taskmaster but Kainaz says that she never had a problem with her. “Not at all. She was always very sweet, casual- not the taskmaster at all.” After the release of the film, the actor , who has been seen in Wake Up Sid and Paathshaala says she plans to take on “meaningful roles”. “I don’t want to take on just any film. I will not do senseless films.”
ISLAMABAD: Forced by criticism into saying more than its first terse response to the killing of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, Pakistan on Tuesday evening disclosed that its Air Force had scrambled its jets as the U.S. operation was going on, and American attention to Abbottabad had been drawn by the Inter-Services Intelligence.

Recognising Osama's death as an important milestone in the fight against terrorism, the Foreign Office — in a detailed rebuttal of some of the criticism, speculation and conspiracy theories bombarded on Pakistan in the past 36 hours — expressed “deep concerns and reservations about the manner in which the government of the United States carried out this operation without prior information or authorisation from the government of Pakistan.”

“This event of unauthorised unilateral action cannot be taken as a rule,” the statement said, adding that such an event “shall not serve as a future precedent for any state,” including the U.S. “Such actions undermine cooperation and may also sometimes constitute a threat to international peace and security.”

“No assistance”

Rubbishing reports about U.S. helicopters taking off from the Ghazi Airbase, Pakistan asserted that no base or any facility inside Pakistan was used by the U.S. forces. Nor did the Pakistan Army provide any operational or logistic assistance to this operation. On U.S. helicopters reaching Abbottabad undetected, the Foreign Office said: “U.S. helicopters entered Pakistani airspace making use of blind spots in radar coverage due to hilly terrain. The U.S. helicopters' undetected flight into Pakistan was also facilitated by mountainous terrain, efficacious use of the latest technology and ‘nap-of-the-earth' flying techniques. It may not be realistic to draw an analogy between this undefended civilian area and some military/security installations which have elaborate local defence arrangements.''

To buttress its contention, the Foreign Office quoted White House Advisor John Brennan's briefing in which he said Islamabad was informed only after all American helicopters were out of Pakistani airspace. “At the time, Pakistanis were reacting to an incident that they knew was taking place in Abbottabad. Therefore, they were scrambling some of their assets. Clearly, we were concerned that if the Pakistanis decided to scramble jets or whatever else, they didn't know who were on those jets.” According to the statement, the ISI had been sharing information with the Central Intelligence Agency and other friendly intelligence agencies about the target compound since 2009. “The intelligence flow indicating some foreigners in the surroundings of Abbottabad continued till mid April 2011. Taking advantage of much superior technological assets, the CIA exploited the intelligence leads given by us to identify and reach Osama bin Ladin… It is also important to mention that the CIA and some other friendly intelligence agencies have benefited a great deal from the intelligence provided by the ISI.''
Nine security persons were killed and 30 injured - 10 of them being in critical condition - in a Maoist ambush on Tuesday in Jharkhand's Lohardaga district, around 125 km northwest of capital Ranchi. A special task force, comprising the CRPF and district police, walked into a rebel trap around 1.30pm near Dhardharia waterfall, around 25 km from the district headquarters at Lohardaga.
The team was out on a raid, following a tip-off about a rebel meeting.

Director general of police GS Rath said the state police headquarters had no information about the operation.

"Even the IG (Operations) was not informed."

He said an assistant director general of police had been asked to probe the lapses.

Said sub-inspector PC Deogam, a district police officer who was part of the team: "As soon as we reached the waterfall, we heard an announcement on microphone, asking us to lay down arms. In a few seconds, serial blasts ripped the area and I was thrown several feet away from where I stood."

Injured jawans said the rebels triggered nearly 50 blasts, mostly landmines and pressure bombs. Rescue teams, with the help of locals, carried the injured jawans, many of them with missing limbs, to hospitals.

CRPF assistant commandant RK Singh lost one of his legs in the attack. Eight jawans were airlifted to Apollo Hospital in Ranchi.

Sources said several rebel commanders, including Nakul Yadav and Puran Ganju, participated in the ambush, the biggest one so far this year in the state, where all 24 districts are Maoist-affected.
