AMU students may lose jobs due to exam delay

ALIGARH: Final-year BTech student Naveed Qazi (23) was packing his bags to join his dream job with the Tata Consultancy Services in Pune when violence on the Aligarh Muslim University campus threw a spanner in his plans. The university was closed sine die forcing him to miss his exams and instead head home to Jammu.

"We have been asked to vacate the campus," he said.

Qazi said he could lose his job as he would not be able to take his exams, postponed due to the university's closure. "I can only join once I take my final year exams. I have to produce my final-year marks-sheet for the job confirmation," said Qazi as the

AMU Students Union leaders went around the campus urging the students to defy the University order.

Hundreds of students like Qazi face the prospect of losing their placements due to the delay in examinations.

AMU registrar V K Abdul Jaleel issued the closure order and ordered the students to vacate their hostels within 48 hours. Assistant controller (examinations) also issued a notification postponing examinations.
