Islamabad: All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman Mir Waiz Omar Farooq assured Mr Ram Jethmilani, the Chairman of Kashmir Committee set up by the Indian government that Kashmiri militants are now ready to support a meaningful dialogue between India and Pakistan.
He gave this assurance during a discussion in “Capital Talk” of Geo News on Thursday night hosted by Hamid Mir. BJP leader Ram Jethmilani was present in Islamabad studio with Hamid Mir while APHC leader participated in the discussion from Srinagar. Ram Jethmilani claimed that he accepted the responsibility of Kashmir Committee after getting clearance from Mir Waiz Farooq. He also claimed, “I am the best friend Pakistan ever had in India”.
Former law minister of India and member of the Rajia Sabha(upper house of the Indian parliament) Ram Jethmilani clearly said that his Kashmir Committee will not only talk to the Kashmiris but this committee will also talk to Pakistan and tripartite talks are the only solution of Kashmir dispute. During the discussion Mir Waiz Omar Farooq proposed to form a joint committee of Indian and Pakistani parliamentarians to visit both parts of the Kashmir. Ram Jethmilani never rejected the proposal but said that first of all Pakistan and India must sign a no War pact because this kind of pact will resolve 50 percent of the problems. Mir Waiz Omar Farooq immediately accepted that proposal and said that he will 100 percent support a no war pact between India and Pakistan. When Ram Jethmilani inquired whether others in Kashmir would support a no war pact, Mir Waiz said that United Jehad Council(umbrella organization of Kashmiri militant outfits) have assured him that they are now ready to give chance to a meaningful dialogue between India and Pakistan.
Mir Waiz told Ram Jethmilani that there is a huge mistrust between Kashmiris and Indian government and first of all India must demilitarize Kashmir for establishing trust in hearts and minds of Kashmiris. Chairman of International Commission of Jurists Mr Rajeev Bahwan agreed with Mir Waiz and accepted that Indian Army committed lot of atrocities in Kashmir. That was a first ever confession from any top Indian lawyer who is the head of a Geneva based law body. Raajeev Bhawan said, “We cannot deny atrocities in Kashmir.” Ram Jethmilani is also President of Supreme Court Bar Assocciation of India. He came to Islamabad on the invitation of his Pakistani counterpart Asma Jahangir.
